Tim is the father and leader of both the family and the band. He plays the 5-string banjo in much the same style as Dale Perry (currently with Continental Divide and formerly with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver) and sings both lead and harmony vocals. Tim has been singing since high school, when he also learned to play the piano. He accompanies himself with his wife Sandy when they sing for church services. Tim started playing the banjo in 1996 when he and Sandy first started playing bluegrass gospel for various church events. An interesting note about his banjo is that it is an Osborne "Chief" and is the fifth one made. This particular banjo was first owned by Dana Cupp (banjo player for Bill Monroe) and later by Dale Perry while he was with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Tim is originally from South Georgia and is now a retired Air Force officer. His daytime job is as an instructor at the Air Force Institute of Technology where he teaches network security. He loves the Lord and desires to glorify Him in all that he does.
